Oh my goodness! This is one of the most sacred pieces I've ever made! Let me tell you about it...
One day, me and my children were walking around our neighborhood. We stopped when we saw a fully intact butterfly on the ground. It wasn't moving at all so we carefully picked it up and noticed that the wings on the right side were tattered. This butterfly obviously had passed on but we felt this beautiful creature had a message for us all to share.
We kept it in a box not knowing what to do with it yet, until finally after a year or so...
The butterfly wanted to be REBORN! We carefully took the wings off its body and got them laminated to keep them as protected as possible. Its body we took care of by digging a hole near our tree while paying respect and giving thanks. I then took the laminated wings and found the perfect Labradorite (all about transformation, change, intuition, protection) to be the body of the butterfly. I wire-wrapped the stone of transformation, placed it on the wings, added gold leafs around the wings and also where the wings were tattered (I had the same intention as Kintsugi*), and resin the piece!
This butterfly's message to us all:
"Life keeps going, just in different ways. When one seems broken, it is an invitation for transformation and rebirth!"
